About the Event
The Special Needs Community Initiative (SNCI) is hosting our Second Annual Raise the Roof Family 5K and Family Fun Walk on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Rankin Lake Park in Gastonia, NC at 8:00 a.m.
Raise the Roof 5K and Family Fun Walk is suitable for ALL ages and ability levels. The 5K is a timed event for runners, but walkers are also welcome to participate in the timed 5K. There is no time limit for this race. The Family Fun Walk is an untimed event and suitable for walkers of all ages. The Walk course is a bit over 1 Mile but on a flat paved course. Strollers and pets are welcome.
Every step you take will help RAISE THE ROOF for community living!
Saturday, March 4, 2023 - RACE DAY
- 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM - Packet Pickup
- 7:45 AM - Pre-race warm up
- 7:50 AM - Announcements from SNCI
- 8:00 AM - 5K begins
- 8:30 AM - Family Fun Walk begins
- 9:00 AM - Awards Ceremony and Post-Race Celebration!

SNCI is a non-profit organization and all proceeds from this event will go to support our mission to create and sustain an affordable co-housing community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our area so that they may live independently in a safe environment that is rich in opportunities for personal growth through our Learn, Work, and Play Program.
